My Approach to Teaching

Everyone can learn to use technology comfortably — it just has to be taught the right way, for the right person. Here's how I approach it:

  • Plain English only. No tech jargon. I explain things the way a knowledgeable friend would.
  • Your pace, not mine. We go as slowly as you need. There's no rushing, ever.
  • Tailored to you. Sessions are built around what you actually want to learn and use — not a generic checklist.
  • Hands-on learning. You'll do it yourself with me guiding you, so it actually sticks.
  • No judgment. There are no silly questions. I'm here to help, not to make you feel behind.

"Many of my customers tell me it feels like learning from a trusted friend or family member — someone who actually takes the time."

Pricing

Device training is billed at my standard in-home rate. Most sessions run 1–2 hours, depending on what you want to cover and the pace that feels comfortable.

In-Home Training: $100 for the first hour, $75/hr after.

Sessions go at your pace. I'll never rush through material just to end the hour. If we're nearing the end and want to keep going, I'll let you know before continuing — no surprise charges.

Ongoing Support

Some people just need one session. Others find it helpful to have someone they can call when a question comes up later. That kind of ongoing support is what membership plans are designed for — a familiar face at a predictable rate, year-round.

Common Questions

Things people often ask about device training and tech help.

Phones, tablets, and computers — whatever you use or want to use more comfortably. That includes texting, sending photos, video calls, email, online shopping, using apps, organizing photos, staying safe from scams, keeping passwords organized, and any other everyday digital task that feels confusing right now. There's no silly question.

Not at all. The most common reason people reach out is feeling lost or stuck with a device they're not comfortable with — and that's true at any age. That said, a lot of my work is with older adults and retirees who want to feel more confident and independent with their technology, and I enjoy that work a lot.

Yes. If you're arranging help for a parent, grandparent, or family member, I'll work at their pace and make sure the session is genuinely useful for them — not rushed or intimidating. I do this regularly and approach it with a lot of patience. If other household members want to sit in and learn alongside them, that's welcome too.

Always. There's no rushing, no feeling behind. Sessions are tailored around what you actually want to learn, hands-on, so it sticks. Most sessions run 1–2 hours, but the pace is entirely up to you.

Yes. Sorting out passwords, understanding how to keep accounts secure, and getting less overwhelmed by logins and settings is something I help with regularly. I'll also cover how to recognize scams and suspicious messages — one of the most practical things to know.

Yes — in-home is the ideal format. Learning on your own device, in your own space, with your own setup, makes everything much easier to remember and apply. Follow-up questions can often be handled by phone or a quick remote session.

That's completely available. Some people just need one session; others like having someone they can call when something comes up. If that kind of ongoing peace of mind sounds useful, a membership plan is worth a look — it's designed for exactly that.
